"We are on our way" seems to be the sentiment coming from the MEMS Industry Group (MIG), which recently reported that the US MEMS industry will grow from 2000's $2 to $5 billion to an $8 to $15 billion industry by 2004.

International SEMATECH Wins EPA Climate Protection Award
AUSTIN, TEXAS
International SEMATECH (ISMT) has won this year's prestigious Climate Protection Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its work in reducing perfluorocarbons (PFCs) emissions. The EPA considers PFC emissions to be potent greenhouse or global warming gases. (March 27)

International Interconnection Intelligence recently announced the availability of a report covering 1,500 patents from the past 20 years in the areas of BGA, CSP, WLP, and related technologies. The scope of the work is certainly impressive, and one interesting set of information from it is a list of the number of patents by company. I was surprised by many of the entries in the list.
